Anthony Turner, Jus’ Cynthia, Joan Cartwright, Robin Avery, Wayne Redicker, Lorna Lesperance and Malcolm Black performed November 14, 2012, at Dillard Center for the Arts for Broward Schools SEAS Program.
Hi Joan, Great group shot.  nice job by u producing the show.  I thought it was a strong presentation with great energy, education, quality performances, rich diversity, & spontaneity.  thnx! ~ Paul Banman (Musical Director)
Joan, Thanks for adding me to the list of musicians for the performance at Dillard High School on the 14th of November. I’m so glad it was well received and the music had plenty of energy and life. The idea of women in jazz is a great sell. Thanks also for doing a superb job of leading the ensemble and being our spokesperson. You are definitely a take charge woman. With the downsizing of opportunities for ensembles in the entertainment world, you found another avenue of outlets. The academic world of schools, colleges, festivals, and city events is a good source to investigate. Of course, booking agents can help also, where they have contacts artist don’t normally inquire. Please keep me in mind for any future events the Women in Jazz South Florida might be considering, however large or small. I enjoy working with your organization for the promotion of Jazz and music, in general. The rich culture of art and expressiveness that we share can be enjoyed by a world flooded with Pop and Commercialism, when exposed to it. ~ Wayne Rediker (Guitar Instructor – – 561-483-6934 )
