The Musicwoman Archive will house a library of women’s music, compositions, scores, arrangements, films, videos, books, magazines, articles, artifacts, and other memorabilia. This state-of-the-art complex will include a 300-seat theater, a recording studio, rehearsal rooms, and a hotel featuring gourmet cuisine prepared by world-class chefs and their apprentices. The project will employ hundreds of people dedicated to the preservation of women’s music.
The Musicwoman Archive was conceived by Dr. Joan Cartwright, a 40-year veteran of the jazz/blues stage. She is the Editor-in-Chief of Musicwoman Magazine, Musicman Magazine, and soon to come is MusicTeen Magazine. Dr. Cartwright founded Women in Jazz South Florida, Inc. in 2007. In its 15th year, the membership is 395 with 245 musicians. http://www.wijsf.org
