My granddaughter, Papadook The Poet did a wonderful job presenting the speech by Josephine Baker at the March on Washington in 1963, at the 109th ASALH Conference in Pittsburgh, PA, on Saturday, September 28, 2024. Congratulations to the Sunshine Jazz Organization celebrating 37 years of musical service to the South Florida Community. I salute the 2023 inductees into the South Florida Jazz Hall of Fame. Kudos to Keith Valles and Thelma Valles for keeping the legacy of China Valles alive and so vibrantly rich in Miami and points North, South, East, and West! Many of my musical associates are featured on November 4, 2023, in Miami. I had the joy of singing with Mike Gerber on several occasions. Jesse Jones is featured on the first issue of Musicman Magazine (2020). Curtis Lundy is an old friend from New York, though he and his sister Carmen Lundy are from Miami, Florida. I have not met Christina Alexander. But knowing the caliber of artists presented and honored by SJO, she must be as talented as she looks, which is exquisite.
